A PRAYER TO GOD
God is the ultimate savior of all. No matter how big or small the problem is, the first savior that comes to mind and heart is GOD. We do our prayers to Him. Prayer is something we do every day. And this story is of an old man and his prayer.
An old man lived with his family in his small house. He had two children and a loving wife. His children were married and so got busy in their lives. His son went abroad after getting a job there. His daughter was in another city with her husband. She rarely comes to visit him. He was still happy in his life. But life changed for him after his retirement. His earnings were reduced to minimal. Though the husband and wife were managing their life. But then his wife died after enduring a long sickness. He was alone and sad. His life become hard as his old age failed him to earn his bread and butter.
There was a hotel on the corner of the street. His owner was a good man. The hotel was running well but he wanted to increase his sale as he also had a big family of 10 people to feed. One day, he had a good sale, the same thing happened the other day also. This continued daily then. He was much happy and surprised too. Then, around after 3 months, he saw an old man slipping away without paying the bill. He did not stop him. His younger son also noticed that. Another day, he noticed the same man slipping away by taking the advantage of crowd in the hotel. He tried to stop him, but his father didn’t let him do so. His son was surprised and confused by his father’s reaction. He said to give him the reason afterward.
At home, he asked his father why he didn’t let him catch that man. He said that he is noticing that old man from the last month. The old man remained nearby his shop throughout the day, maybe waiting for the crowd to come. As soon as there was a crowd for eating food or for packing the meal to eat at their home, he always came and ordered two roties and a vegetable only. And then, he quickly slipped away. But he never ordered more than that. He never wasted any food. And then the hotel owner said something which astonished his son. He said that he believed that the old man was the reason for the increase in their income. Maybe God is answering the prayer of that old man by filling his hotel with people so that he could come and eat easily without paying.
From that day, even the son of that hotel owner became polite towards people and life. His belief in prayer and God became more stern. That old man was that same man whose wife died and he became so lonely and helpless. Due to his old age, he was unable to earn his livelihood. So, he started coming to the hotel to eat. For a few days, he paid his bills. But after a few days, when he was not left with any money. He started praying to God to suggest to him some ways to get the food. Then, he saw that the owner of the hotel is a kindhearted man and helps poor people. The old man did not want to beg, so one day when there was crowd he entered and ate without paying. From that day, he daily prayed to God to fill his shop with people and huge sales, so that he could get in and eat easily without getting noticed. And thus, the life of these two people get mixed with their Prayer To God.
